here's how it works
01. Order & Receive Your Test Kit
We will ship the test kit directly to you. Your test kit will include all of the materials you need to take a simple, painless hair sample from your horse's mane. The only item you will need to collect the sample is a pair of clean, stainless steel scissors.
02. Take a Hair Sample
Follow the directions included in your kit to snip a sample of your horse's mane. Using the pre-addressed envelope included in your test kit, mail the sample to Trace Elements lab in Texas.
04. Receive Your Report
The lab will send your results directly to our team. We will use that to create your comprehensive report and customized nutrition plan.
05. Schedule Your Consultation
We will schedule a virtual consultation to discuss your report, any questions you have, and any action items for you to implement with your horse.
What to expect when you purchase a Mane & Mineral Test + Consultation

While we wait for your test results, you will complete our client intake form via our digital client portal so we can gather information about your horse's current diet, areas of concern, etc. We will use this information and your test results to formulate your customized nutrition plan.

Single Horse Consultation
A 30-minute session to evaluate your horse’s nutrition, address concerns and develop a tailored plan.
Multi-Horse Consultation
A one-hour session to review multiple horses’ diets and create a strategy for their individual needs for up to three horses.
Full Barn Consultation
Perfect for trainers or barn managers. We will assess each horse’s nutritional plan and provide comprehensive recommendations for your entire program.
